There's good news for nearly 3,000 active-duty lieutenants junior grade: They just got approved for promotion to O-3.

The fiscal 2008 active-duty Navy all-fully-qualified-officers list was approved by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, according to an AlNav message released Thursday; Senate confirmation is not required for promotion to lieutenant.

The list includes 2,956 line and staff officers.

The lists

* Unrestricted Line (A through G)

* Unrestricted Line (H through N)

* Unrestricted Line (O through Z)

* Special Duty Officer (Human Resources)

* Special Duty Officer (Information Professional)

* Special Duty Officer (Information Warfare)

* Special Duty Officer (Intelligence)

* Special Duty Officer (Oceanography)

* Special Duty Officer (Public Affairs)

* Engineering/Aerospace Engineering

* Chaplains Corps

* Civil Engineer Corps

* Judge Advocate General's Corps

* Medical Service Corps

* Nurse Corps

* Supply Corps

* Limited Duty Officer (Line and Staff)
