Since 2001, an iPod has been on practically everyone's wish list. At $399, if it's too rich for your blood, consider the iPod Nano. It shoots 10 hours of video and is slicker and thinner than the last version. The iPod Touch — the next best thing to an iPhone — supports audio input and, with a software update, has Bluetooth capabilities. The other two options are the iPod Shuffle and iPod Classic. Cost: $59 to $399 www.apple.com/itunes

Walmart announced this year that it's expanding its electronics offerings to include more high-end products. It now carries top-end flat-screen televisions, such as the industry-best Sony Bravia. You can pick up the 40-inch 1080p 60Hz LCD HDTV for $767, online or at the store. It's got excellent color and image quality; it's also just the right size — not too big, not too small. Cost: $767 ($82 less than MSRP) www.walmart.com (COURTESY OF SONY)

We live by the maxim that an object is all the more beautiful if it plugs into the wall, requires batteries or somehow lights up. Throw in an LCD display, and you win our hearts forever.

This holiday season, we help you sort through the mound of new electronics on the market to find the real gems — from computer speakers to flat-screen TVs and all things in between.

So plug in, turn on and tune out.
