Sgt. Matt Pierson made it home from Afghanistan for Christmas Eve — but Santa didn't come until nearly a month later.

Pierson, a team leader in the Kansas Army National Guard's 772nd Engineer Company, received a phone call Jan. 7 telling him he had won a 2010 custom Chevrolet Camaro through Prestolite Performance's Modern Muscle X campaign.

"This was huge for me and my family," Pierson said. "Coming home fresh off of deployment, my wife and I were searching for a car. I have always wanted a Camaro. Prestolite Performance has given me my dream car."

Pierson won the car through the Modern Muscle X sweepstakes offered by Prestolite Performance, an auto parts manufacturer. He received the Camaro on Jan. 20 in Nashville, Tenn., a moment that will be featured March 12 and 13 on a PowerBlockTV segment on SpikeTV.

Prestolite Performance paid for airfare for both Pierson and his wife, Paula, to go to Nashville for the taping.

In 2010, Prestolite engineers revamped three automotive icons — a 2011 Ford Mustang, 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and 2010 Dodge Challenger. The goal was to award one winner the car of his or her choice at the end of the campaign.

Pierson said the Camaro was an easy choice.

"I grew up in a Chevrolet family, and my mom and dad even have matching Camaros," Pierson said. "Winning this car is all I have been able to think about."
