Ever since I have been born, my whole life has been associated with the military. In July I had just barely turned 17, I know that doesn't seem like a long time. But I believe that I have been blessed to even be associated with the military, because I have more information and knowledge with the military. Which is a plus, because most people I know barely know anything about the military.
Since my father was in the Navy, I had the chance to be able to move to different places. While living in Guam, my father was able to visit many different places, like Kuwait and the Philippines, he was helping his squadron train, and when he was in the Philippines he was able to visit an orphanage and help around with the little kids. We were able to visit different countries, and were even able to see the other bases that are located in the different countries. Just seeing some of the citizens of the places we visited, most of the people there were so happy that there was an American base there, to help protect them if there was anything that could harm them. It showed me that there are so many people that rely on and care about Americans and our military. ... Just living in Guam and visiting all these different countries and seeing how they live, and how my father had helped out the different countries he had gone to for work. I realized that I should not take my life for granted and I need to help those that are less fortunate than us. This might sound like a long shot, but I hope to be able to become rich and famous to give awareness to help those people, or even countries that need our help. The military helping out those victims in Hurricane Katrina, the Haiti earthquake and many other disasters, that impressed me and made me want to help out some way and somehow.
A year ago or so my aunt was sent off to Afghanistan. When she was there, she was put through training and needed to deal with the hardship of going to Afghanistan. When she was over there, there were many things that she had learned and saw that could have happened and become really dangerous. Even though my aunt came back in the beginning of May, there are still some soldiers there fighting to protect us and fight for freedom. I hope they will be able to come back, and that we won't have to fight anymore.
