When you're a military kid, your life is very different from most kids' lives. I am a military kid. I have to move around every couple of years and make new friends. Most of the people I know have lived in one place for their whole lives and can only dream of going somewhere else. I've seen much more than most kids my age. I've seen the Liberty Bell, the Statue of Liberty, Independence Hall, the Smithsonian, the Grand Canyon and many other places in our country. We travel a lot since we move every couple of years. I experience a lot of different things, like living far away from family.

I appreciate little things, like how beautiful our country really is. I think I am lucky to live here and not halfway around the world. I've learned to love my country for what it is, enjoy my freedom, and to appreciate our military and all the sacrifices they make every day for us. They risk their lives for us and some people don't appreciate it. My dad is in the Air Force. When we lived in Virginia, we almost never saw him. He was always somewhere else, like Iraq, Afghanistan, Germany, Norway, Korea, Kuwait, or Qatar, just to name a few.

I have really learned to appreciate how good I have it compared to someone living in Afghanistan. I have this appreciation because I am a military kid and being a military kid has changed my outlook on life.
