SAN DIEGO A Marine Corps spokesman said heavy fog prevented a fighter jet from landing on an aircraft carrier and forced it to be diverted to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in San Diego, where it landed safely.
Miramar spokesman Cpl. Steven Posy said the F/A-18 jet was training with the aircraft carrier Nimitz on Tuesday night when poor visibility because of fog prompted the diversion.
Posy said there were no problems with the aircraft.
