If you're hoping to join or move up the petty officer ranks this fall, you've only got to wait a little longer.
The chief of naval personnel has approved the advancement quotas, and names should be announced early next week.
Last spring saw a 50 percent jump when 29,872 active-duty and full-time support sailors moved up. That was about 9,400 more names than the previous fall.
In May, Rear Adm. Tony Kurta, head of manpower plans for CNP, said he did not expect a major drop in this fall's advancements compared with the spring totals.
