Sailors can buy the newly approved optional all-weather coat in four Navy Exchange uniform shops, the exchange online store and through mail order, with availability in more places coming soon, according to Navy Exchange officials. These trench coats are the same as those now worn by soldiers.
Exchange uniform stores in Norfolk and Henderson Hall, Va.; Great Lakes, Ill.; and Bangor, Wash., are selling the coats, which will come later year to most of the larger stores in colder regions of the country, said Navy Exchange Service Command spokeswoman Kristine Sturkie.
All sailors can order the coats online at http://www.MyNavyExchange.com">www.MyNavyExchange.com. Standard shipping is free for uniform items, Sturkie said, and they'll usually arrive in seven to 10 business days. Sailors also can get them by mail order at 800-368-4088.
The men's coat costs $97.40; the women's version is $91.85. Prices are the same as those in Army exchanges and are set by the Defense Logistics Agency. The black polyester-cotton blend coat has a zip-out liner for extra warmth.
