KODIAK, Alaska U.S. Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus visited Kodiak during his tour of naval bases in the Pacific Rim.

The Kodiak Daily Mirror reported Friday that Mabus met with SEALs training at the Naval Special Warfare Center on Spruce Cape before heading to Korea.

Winter traditionally brings a group of SEAL candidates to the center for training, and Mabus' visit was a chance for instructors and students to highlight their skills with demonstrations at the base.

Mabus promoted one officer during his Kodiak visit and also issued a Navy Commendation Medal to a serviceman.
