LOCKPORT, La. — Bollinger Shipyards Inc. has delivered the fifth Fast Response Cutter to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Monday’s announcement by Chris Bollinger, executive vice president of new construction, said the Margaret Norvell was delivered last week to the 7th Coast Guard District in Key West, Fla., and will be stationed at USCG Sector Miami. It will be commissioned in New Orleans in June.
Each fast response cutter is named for an enlisted Coast Guard hero who distinguished him or herself in the line of duty. This vessel is named after Norvell, who served 41 years with the U.S. Lighthouse Service in Louisiana from 1891 to 1932. She served as keeper of both the Port Pontchartrain Light and the West End Light.
