NORFOLK, Va. — The Winston S. Churchill is returning to its home port in Virginia.
The guided-missile destroyer is scheduled to arrive at Naval Station Norfolk on Thursday following a nine-month deployment.
While deployed, the Churchill helped save the life of a mariner off the coast of Oman who was evacuated to a hospital. The Churchill also participated in the first U.S. Central Command joint counter-piracy exercise between the U.S. and China.
The ship also made port visits to Albania, Jordan, Montenegro, Portugal and the United Arab Emirates.
