INDIANAPOLIS — A former Indiana National Guard employee faces federal charges alleging that she bilked the agency out of more than $200,000 by making unauthorized purchases of everything from jewelry to household appliances.

The U.S. Attorney’s office said 51-year-old Angela Watson of Indianapolis was indicted Thursday on wire fraud charges after they allege she used her position as a National Guard program analyst to make those purchases.

Prosecutors said Watson worked for the Indiana National Guard from 1993 until early 2011.

The alleged scheme ran from 2008 until late 2010 and involved Watson allegedly using her federally funded government purchase card to make unauthorized personal purchases and then submitting false and fraudulent receipts.

She is accused of using the money to buy items that included jewelry, electronics, household appliances, clothing and food.
