AIR FORCE ACADEMY, COLO. — An Air Force Academy cadet convicted of a sex abuse charge has been kicked out of the military.
The Gazette reports a court-martial panel convicted Jamil Cooks on Saturday of abusive sexual contact. The academy made the announcement Sunday.
The panel acquitted Cooks of forcible sodomy and aggravated sexual assault.
He was charged after a woman said he forced her into sex acts in an academy dorm room in May 2011.
Cooks also was accused late last year of unlawfully entering the dorm rooms of two female cadets. He pleaded guilty to the unlawful entry charges, but contested the sexual assault charges.
The academy junior, a former linebacker on the Air Force football team, had been on pre-trial lockup since December and was sentenced to time served.
