Defense Secretary Chuck Hagel has announced the following three-star flag nominations made by the president:
Vice Adm. Scott Swift was nominated for reappointment to the rank of vice admiral, which allows three-stars to serve for longer than 38 years without being promoted. Swift was nominated for assignment as the director of Navy Staff, N09B, in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations at the Pentagon in Washington. He is currently serving as the commander of Seventh Fleet in Yokosuka, Japan.
The following rear admirals were nominated for their third star in addition to a new assignment:
■Rear Adm. Paul Grosklags was nominated for assignment as the principal military deputy assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition at the Pentagon. He is currently serving as the program executive officer, air anti-submarine warfare, for the Assault and Special Mission Programs in Patuxent River, Md.
■Rear Adm. Ted Branch was nominated for assignment as the deputy chief of naval operations for information dominance, N2/N6, in the Office of the Chief of Naval Operations/Director of Naval Intelligence at the Pentagon. He is currently serving as the commander of Naval Air Force, U.S. Atlantic Fleet in Norfolk, Va.
■Rear Adm. Sean Pybus was nominated for assignment as the commander of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization Special Operations Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. He is currently serving as the commander of Naval Special Warfare Command in San Diego.
