FORT KNOX, KY. — Fort Knox is preparing for a ceremony to welcome the new commander of the U.S. Army Recruiting Command.

Maj. Gen. Allen W. Batschelet will become the Army’s top recruiter at the Thursday morning ceremony at the Army post in central Kentucky.

Batschelet will take over from Maj. Gen. David L. Mann. Batschelet has been serving as director of operations for the U.S. European Command since September 2011.

This will be his first assignment in Recruiting Command. Batschelet will be in charge of 10,000 soldiers and 1,800 civilian employees and contractors who provide more than 98,000 new soldiers for the Army each year.
