FRANKFORT, KY. — A plan to relocate and expand hangar space to house Kentucky National Guard helicopters is meeting some resistance from neighbors.
The Boone National Guard Center plans to move its Army Aviation Support Facility closer to the Capital City Airport runway and triple its size from about 39,000 square feet to about 120,000 square feet, according to The State Journal.
The project will being in July and take about 18 months to finish, Guard spokesman David Altom said.
Local planning officials are recommending the establishment of an airport overlay district for property owners near where the facility is being built.
Some property owners, including Steve Dickerson, have expressed concerns about how the plans will affect nearby residents. Dickerson said he is mostly worried about noise.
