MIAMI — The Seventh Coast Guard District is getting a new commander.
The U.S. Coast Guard reports that Rear Adm. John H. Korn will assume the responsibilities as the Seventh Coast Guard District commander and director of Homeland Security Task Force-Southeast during a ceremony at Coast Guard Air Station Miami in Opa Locka.
Presiding over Wednesday’s ceremony will be Vice Adm. Robert C. Parker, Coast Guard Atlantic Area commander.
Korn is taking over for Rear Adm. William D. Baumgartner, who is retiring. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Robert J. Papp will participate in a retirement ceremony for Baumgartner immediately following the change of command.
The Seventh Coast Guard District, headquartered in Miami, encompasses the Southeastern United States and the Caribbean basin.
