BUFFALO, N.Y. — A change-of-command ceremony is scheduled for the U.S. Coast Guard’s Buffalo station on Lake Erie.
Officials say Senior Chief Petty Officer Dennis O’Connell will be transferring his duties as officer-in-charge to Senior Chief Petty Officer Craig Allain during a ceremony being held late Tuesday morning at the Coast Guard station on Buffalo’s harbor.
O’Connell is headed to a Coast Guard duty station in Boston. Allain comes to Buffalo after serving as executive officer at the Coast Guard station at Fort Pierce, Fla. In Buffalo, he’ll be in charge of 22 active-duty Coast Guardsmen, seven reservists and 122 auxiliary members.
Last month, Capt. Brian Roche assumed command of the Coast Guard’s Buffalo sector, which oversees 15 units covering 570 miles of shoreline in the eastern Great Lakes from Vermillion, Ohio to Massena.
