WEST POINT, N.Y. — A cadet from New Jersey has been selected first captain at West Point.

The U.S. Military Academy announced Thursday that Cadet Lindsey Danilack of Montville, N.J., will take on the highest position in the cadet chain of command Aug. 12.

Danilack, who is set to graduate in May, will be responsible for the overall performance of the roughly 4,400 cadets at West Point. She is the fourth woman to serve as first captain.

Past first captains have included future generals John Pershing, Douglas MacArthur and William Westmoreland.
