KABUL, AFGHANISTAN — An Afghan official says a suicide bomber killed three people Tuesday when he targeted a security vehicle in eastern Afghanistan.
NATO also said that insurgents killed one of its service members in eastern Afghanistan. It provided no other details nor the nationality of the victim, but most troops in the east are from the United States.
Logar province spokesman Din Mohammad Darwesh said Tuesday’s suicide attack took place in the provincial capital of Puli Alam. He added that another eight people were wounded.
One of those killed was a policeman, he said.
So far, five four foreign soldiers have been killed this month in Afghanistan, including four Americans, for a total of 108 this year.
Violence has spiked in recent months as insurgents have launched attacks to retake lost ground as foreign troops withdraw.
