The Air Force promoted 101 officers in medical specialties to major and lieutenant colonel on Monday.

Forty majors in the Medical Science Corps were promoted to lieutenant colonel, and 61 Medical Science Corps captains were promoted to major. The overall selection rate for lieutenant colonel was 25.8 percent, and the major selection rate was 92.4 percent, the Air Force Personnel Center said.

Thirty-three of the 47 Medical Science Corps majors who were in the promotion zone for lieutenant colonel were selected, a 70.2 percent selection rate. Three of the 19 above-the-zone majors under consideration were promoted to lieutenant colonel, a 15.8 percent selection rate. And four of the 89 below-the-zone majors under consideration were selected for promotion, a 4.5 percent select rate.

Neither of the two above-the-zone captains were selected for promotion to major. The Air Force did not consider any below-the-zone captains during this promotion board.
