RAISIN TOWNSHIP, MICH. — Michigan State Police say a 31-year-old soldier on leave from the U.S. Army is jailed after a man was strangled to death and another stabbed in the shoulder.
The Daily Telegram of Adrian reports the soldier was arrested Saturday in Lenawee County’s Raisin Township, about 50 miles southwest of Detroit, following a report of an ongoing assault. Formal charges could come Monday.
The man who died was identified as a 20-year-old from Adrian. The injured 18-year-old man was treated and released.
Police say on the soldier was visiting his estranged wife at the time of the attack, and the stabbing victim was injured while trying to help the strangulation victim. Police say at least seven people had been living in the manufactured home where the attack took place.
