Orange County, Fla., police arrested an ensign Saturday at Walt Disney World’s Epcot Center after he allegedly punched two park employees and hit a third with a 3-foot PVC pipe.

Ensign Austin DeVan Hill, assigned to Training Wing 5 at Milton, Fla., faces battery, aggravated battery and felony battery charges, according to an arrest affidavit from the Orange County Sheriff’s Office. Hill’s listed on the 2012 Naval Academy graduate list and a his bio on the Navy athletics website identifies him as a former member of the football team.

Hill “appeared to be very intoxicated,” a police officer who responded to the incident wrote in the report.

The document details three alleged assaults of Disney World “cast members” — terminology the company applies to park employees beyond those in costume or in performance roles:

■ Hill allegedly punched a man while in an area of an Epcot Center exhibit off-limits to park visitors, causing “a large gash across his forehead.”

■ He allegedly attempted to take a “work cart” and was confronted by a second employee, whom Hill allegedly punched in the face.

■ Hill allegedly struck a woman with a 3-foot “plastic pvc pipe.” She was not identified as an employee in the police report, but ID’d as such by an Orlando Sentinel report.

The two men were taken to Celebration Hospital in Kissimmee. They had been discharged as of Monday, a hospital spokeswoman said. The woman was treated at the scene.

The officer said Hill resisted efforts by police to escort him to the park’s security office, briefly breaking free before falling to the ground and suffering facial injuries. Hill also was treated at Celebration Hospital, according to the report.

Hill, 24, was released from Orange County jail Sunday morning on bond, a spokeswoman with the county’s corrections department said in an email Monday. A phone number listed on the arrest report as Hill’s home line was not in service.

The ensign has been awarded the Meritorious Unit Commendation and the National Defense Service medals, according to Navy personnel records.

His name appears on the 2009 Navy football roster, identifying him as a 6-foot, 157-pound sophomore long snapper. His NavySports.com bio lists him as seeing no varsity action in 2008, and his name does not appear on the 2010 or 2011 rosters.
