Less than a month into the new fiscal year, the Navy has already made at least 28 changes to its board schedule, with almost the entire month of October emptied out because of the government shutdown.
The new schedule, released Friday and available at navytimes.com/board-schedule, begins Oct. 28 with aviation major command screenings. They are the only boards scheduled for this month; a schedule posted on Navy Personnel Command’s website Oct. 7 listed 22 boards during the month of October. Other boards scheduled later in the year have also been shuffled in some instances.
The Navy discontinued all boards during the shutdown, the service announced Oct. 11, because NPC had no travel funding and could not bring in sailors to participate.
The shutdown and NPC schedule changes will not delay the release of advancement results, according to an Oct. 10 shutdown-related post on the Navy’s official blog.
