A female soldier killed with three other troops on a special operations mission on Oct. 6 in Kandahar will be remembered in a ceremony at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Wash., on Friday.

Capt. Jennifer M. Moreno, 25, of San Diego, Calif., was attached to a Ranger unit that was conducting a raid on a Taliban target. She died of wounds from a roadside bomb.

She had served with Madigan Army Medical Center before volunteering for the duty and deploying in June.

The ceremony will begin at 10 a.m. at the North Chapel at Joint Base Lewis-McChord.
