Flag officer assignments announced

Navy Secretary Ray Mabus and Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Jon Greenert announced the following eight flag officer assignments late Friday in a Defense Department news release:

2-star assignments

Rear Adm. Thomas Beeman will be assistant deputy surgeon general for reserve affairs, Falls Church, Va. Beeman previously served as deputy commander, Navy Medicine National Capital Area, Bethesda, Md.

Rear Adm. Paula Brown will be deputy commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Washington, D.C. Brown previously served as deputy commander, 1st Naval Construction Division, Virginia Beach, Va.

1-star assignments

Rear Adm. Christina Alvarado will be deputy commander, Navy Medicine East, Portsmouth, Va. Alvarado previously served as deputy chief of staff, Navy Medicine East, Norfolk, Va.

Rear Adm. W. Michael Crane will be deputy commander, Naval Air Force Atlantic, Norfolk, Va. Crane previously served as chief staff officer, Navy Reserve chief of naval operations, operations and plans (N3/N5), Washington.

Rear Adm. Mark Fung will be deputy for naval construction force, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command, Virginia Beach. Fung previously served as deputy chief of staff, 1st Naval Construction Division, Virginia Beach.

Rear Adm. Victor Hall will be deputy commander, Navy Medicine West, San Diego. Hall previously served as Navy Reserve commanding officer, Navy Medicine Education and Training Command, Jacksonville, Fla.

Rear Adm. Mark Leavitt will be deputy commander, Naval Air Forces/deputy commander, Naval Air Forces Pacific/commander, Naval Air Force Reserve, San Diego. Leavitt previously served as chief of Naval Air Training, Corpus Christi, Texas.

Rear Adm. Thomas Marotta will be deputy commander, Navy Recruiting Command, Millington, Tenn. Marotta previously served as executive assistant, Navy Reserve chief of naval operations, operations and plans (N3/N5), Washington.
