The National Guard’s top general will host a Facebook town hall meeting on Friday.
Army Gen. Frank Grass, chief of the National Guard Bureau, will host the live online meeting at 11:30 a.m. Eastern time. The town hall will coincide with the Guard’s 377th birthday.
People can submit questions in the comments section on Grass’ Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/GeneralGrass, or vote for questions they want answered during the session by “liking” them. The general also is taking advance questions to maximize the reach of the town hall, officials said.
“During challenging times such as the ongoing sequestration, budget discussions and the government shutdown and furloughs earlier this year, social media has proven to be a highly effective tool in informing and interacting with the force and with the wider public,” Grass said in a statement.
Grass said he likes the ability of social media to reach a worldwide audience, including Guard members in all 54 states and territories, the District of Columbia and those deployed overseas.
“I’m looking forward to adding to our National Guard birthday celebration with this event,” he said.
