Columbia College has named its 17th president.

The Columbia (Mo.) Daily Tribune reports the private college’s board of trustees announced it had unanimously chosen Scott Dalrymple as president. Dalrymple replaces Gerald Brouder, who is retiring.

Dalrymple is dean of the School of Liberal Arts at Excelsior College in Albany, N.Y.

According to the Tribune, Dalrymple has a doctorate, a master's degree and a bachelor's degree in English. He also holds a master's degree in business administration. Dalrymple's wife, Tina Dalrymple, has her doctorate in nursing with an emphasis in rural populations, the college said. She is a tenured professor at Hartwick College in Oneonta, N.Y., and a nurse practitioner in a school-based health clinic.

Columbia College, based in Columbia, Mo., has more than 30 campuses across the country, including 18 on military installations, with more than 31,000 students.
