NORFOLK, VA. — A new book traces the history of the world’s largest navy base.

“Naval Station Norfolk” goes on sale Monday. All proceeds will support the Hampton Roads Naval Museum.

The museum partnered with the Hampton Roads Naval Historical Foundation to write the book. It was published by Arcadia Publishing as part of its Images in America series.

Museum curator Joe Judge tells The Virginian-Pilot that the museum and the foundation hope the book will be the beginning of Naval Station Norfolk’s centennial celebration.

The book contains more than 200 vintage photographs.
