A former military training instructor will stand trial Monday at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland on charges she mistreated basic trainees, the Air Force announced Thursday.
Staff Sgt. Annamarie Ellis, of the 559th Aerospace Medicine Squadron, is charged with maltraining and maltreating basic trainees, cruelty and obstruction of justice, according to a base news release.
The Air Force did not immediately provide information about when the alleged misconduct occurred, how many trainees she is accused of mistreating or when Ellis served as an MTI.
A charge sheet outlining the accusations against Ellis was also not immediately available, said Oscar Balladares, a Lackland spokesman.
Ellis is the most recent former basic training instructor to be tried for misconduct since a scandal first emerged at Lackland in summer 2011. Twenty-six former instructors have been convicted at courts-martial since then, and the Air Force has made dozens of changes to the training environment.
Ellis’ general court-martial is scheduled to begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday.
