Spec ops 3-star leads list of 29 flag officer nominations

The 3-star tapped for the No. 2 job at U.S. Special Operations Command leads the list of 29 flag officer nominations announced Tuesday by the Pentagon.

Vice Adm. Sean Pybus was nominated for reappointment to his rank and for the deputy SOCOM commander post by President Obama. Hes serving in Brussels as commander, NATO Special Operations Headquarters.

The other 28 nominations announced Tuesday, all for potential one-stars:

■ Capt. Brian Brakke, serving as chief of staff, Navy Expeditionary Combat Command Pacific, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

■ Capt. Richard Brown, serving as commanding officer, Surface Warfare Officer School Command, Newport, R.I.

■ Capt. James Bynum, serving as executive assistant, Office of the Vice Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C.

■ Capt. Peter Clarke, serving as assistant deputy director for regional operations and force management, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington.

■ Capt. Scott Conn, serving as director, strike aircraft plans and requirements, N985, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington.

■ Capt. Brian Corey, serving as vice commander, Naval Air Systems Command, Patuxent River, Md.

■ Capt. Richard Correll, serving as director, submarine/nuclear power distribution, Navy Personnel Command, Millington, Tenn.

■ Capt. Kathleen Creighton, serving as commanding officer, Naval Computer and Telecommunications Station Bahrain.

■ Capt. Marc Dalton, serving as executive assistant to the commander, Fleet Forces Command, Norfolk, Va.

■ Capt. Shane Gahagan, serving as program manager for air warfare, program executive officer for tactical aircraft programs, Patuxent River, Md.

■ Capt. Timothy Gallaudet, serving as superintendent, U.S. Naval Observatory, Washington.

■ Capt. Collin Green, serving as staff operations and planning officer, Naval Special Warfare Command, Coronado, Calif.

■ Capt. Dale Horan, serving as executive officer, U.S. Northern Command, Peterson Air Force Base, Colo.

■ Capt. Mary Jackson, serving as chief of staff, Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Norfolk.

■ Capt. James Kilby, serving as deputy for ballistic missile defense, AEGIS, Destroyers and Future Surface Combatants, N96F, OPNAV, Washington.

■ Capt. Roy Kitchener, serving as vice commander, Naval Mine and Anti-Submarine Warfare Command, San Diego.

■ Capt. James Malloy, serving as assistant deputy director, Political-Military Affairs for Asia, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington.

■ Capt. Ross Myers, serving as aide to the vice chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff, Washington.

■ Capt. Steven Parode, serving as Chief of Naval Operations Strategic Studies Group fellow, Newport.

■ Capt. Jeffrey Ruth, serving as commanding officer, aircraft carrier Nimitz, Everett, Wash.

■ Capt. Lorin Selby, serving as program manager for advanced undersea research and strategy and operations, program executive officer for submarines, Washington.

■ Capt. Todd Squire, serving as deputy chief, Office of Defense Cooperation, India.

■ Capt. John Tammen Jr., serving as deputy director, Submarine Warfare Division, OPNAV, Washington.

■ Capt. Kent Whalen, serving as commanding officer, aircraft carrier Carl Vinson, San Diego.

■ Capt. Kenneth Whitesell, serving as director, aviation officer career management and distribution, PERS-43, NPC, Millington.

■ Capt. Charles Williams, serving as deputy for surface ship systems weapons and sensors, N96C, OPNAV, Washington.

■ Capt. Jesse Wilson Jr., serving as executive assistant, N00, OPNAV, Washington.

■ Capt. Johnny Wolfe Jr., serving as deputy director for strategic systems programs, Washington.
