LOCATION: A little over an hourís drive north of Rota, and about 20 miles southeast of Seville.
MISSION: The airfield is now home to a historically unfamiliar site in Europe: U.S. Marines with boots on the ground. The Corps recently expanded its Special Purpose Marine Air Ground Task Force here to nearly 1,000 personnel. While in Europe, those Marines are primarily on standby to support missions to AFRICOM. The massive flightline and in-ground aircraft refueling system have made Moron an essential node in the air bridge to operations in the Middle East.
LIFESTYLE: Itís a pleasant place for the several thousand troops living there, not far from the beach and a little over 20 miles southeast of Seville, Spainís fourth-largest city, which dates to Roman times and is packed with history and nightlife.
