The wait is nearly over for more than 16,000 first class petty officers eager to see if they made chief.
Commands will be able to access the results of this year’s chief petty officer selection board at 9 a.m. Tuesday on BUPERS online, Navy Personnel Command said. Navy Times will publish the full list of names Wednesday morning.
The board, which convened in June, considered 16,283 sailors for 3,923 available quotas — though they’re not required to fill every quota if they don’t feel they have qualified candidates.
This year, the overall chance to pin on chief petty officer is 24.1 percent, down 2.6 percentage points from last year. Officials noted it’s still above what they call the 10-year average, which currently sits at 22.7 percent.
