N. Korea launches rocket, U.S. does nothing
Why would we shoot it down? The international community has all eyes on this, and consequences will prevail. The U.S. cannot be the front-runner for every campaign. We have our forces spread so thin that starting up another front would be poor judgment unless the situation was dire. If North Korea wants to be the lone man in the corner, so be it. Engaging in pre-emptive measures would put so much strain on our foreign relations — and our relations are at an all-time low. The time will come when North Korea will understand its wrongful justifications, either with force or diplomatic pressure, but now is not the time.

I’m just sad that we’re going down the same road every four or five years with them. They threat, bluster and build weapons, then we cave and give them oil and food to enable their military to keep control. I say, call their bluffs, shoot down their missiles, and let ’em come. Get it over with so we can unify the country for good, just like with East and West Germany.

Pay raise
Congress will bump the pay raise proposed by President Barack Obama from 2.9 [percent] to 3.4 percent for 2010. Now who do you want to burn? Obama, for not supporting the military enough? Or Congress, for overspending and making our national debt even that much more? Obama did as former President George W. Bush did in his last two years and just proposed the minimum and left it up to Congress to bump the number. I like getting a raise every year, no matter what the number might be.
