134 on E-6 list in error
The tests were in February and it takes them until five days after they announce the promotions that there was an error? Great deck-plate leadership.

I was told I made [naval aircrewman mechanical first class] and got frocked. I have been wearing my crows, got my letter and signed my page 13. Is there any legal action I can take? I don’t see how they can do this. I know I can contact my congressman, but what else can I do? What else can any of us do? First there is the embarrassment after getting frocked, then there is the family who you already celebrated with. If you’re in my situation, what did you do? Has this ever happened before?

If you keep a positive attitude, it will be noted by your chiefs. Work quietly on options. Let your command fight for you. (Hopefully you have good standing in your command, and they have a spine.) Talk to Navy legal. (I’m sure they are getting wind of this by now).

The best way to fix this problem is to do it like the Air Force and stop basing advancement on rating. Everyone in the same paygrade, regardless of rating, should be competing together and be required to achieve the same final multiple in order to advance.

Everyone needs to realize that this was not a means of downsizing or a budget savings. It was a mistake. Looking for resignations or congressional procedures is selfish and one-sided. Yes, it sucked. It could and should have been handled differently, but everyone needs to look at the big picture and realize how keeping the advancements would have affected everyone down the line. Leaders show leadership during adversity. Here is your chance: Take the weekend, do some soul searching, open the books and get ready for the next test.

Do not let one adverse event ruin your career. Be mad, be angry, but accept it for what it is and move on. Show everyone how strong your character is by facing this head-on, getting past it, and moving onto the next advancement cycle.
