Questions linger after Speicher announcement
First off, I am relieved for the family of Michael Speicher that his remains have been identified and will be coming home. I can certainly understand that if someone is being held as a prisoner of war, they remain eligible to advance in rank as they normally would while serving. Since it has been recently revealed that Speicher died during the 1991 crash, his rank should not have advanced through the years. Is the Navy going to remove his rank of captain since he was killed while he was a lieutenant commander in Jan. 1991?

White House confirms Medal of Honor
Sgt. 1st Class Jared Monti deserves this honor, he earned it. I’m not taking away from the service of this soldier; however, this seems to reaffirm the notion that these days the only way to earn the Medal of Honor [is] you have to die. Why are there no living MoH recipients from the current conflict? Congress, what’s the deal?
— BadBender
I think they give the MoH quickly to the dead [to aid families in the] grieving process thing. … ‘Johnny died doing his job, here is the MoH for sacrificing his life for the war that never ends.’ Later on there will be living MoH [recipients], but there is just no rush for them.

Government-run health care
My family’s and my personal health care over the years in military and civilian hospitals, clinics, and even the infamous VA hospitals have been great. I have no complaints about any health care provider that Tricare paid for.

I hate the military health care system because when I finally find a doctor I’m comfortable with, they [change station or] deploy, putting me back at square one. I don’t think I’ve seen the same doctor twice in a row yet.

Commissaries: Real Deal?
I shop at the local grocery stores primarily. Once in a while I will go into the commissary, but I avoid it like the plague on payday weekends.
