SAILORS SOUND OFF ON WHAT THEY HATE
I hate how an enlisted person messes up and commanding officers love to have “Open Masts” to teach us lowly peons a lesson, but then some CO or admiral gets busted [having sex] and all of a sudden we are worried about his reputation and throwing around “loss of confidence” as some catch-all phrase. I hate the Navy advancement system. Wish it was more like the Marine Corps and the run lengthened. PRT scores should be a much more deciding factor in advancement. The bias is towards people who can take tests well, meanwhile their belly is hanging over their belt buckle. So much for pride in uniforms.

TROOPS REJECT EAR PROTECTION IN AFGHANISTAN
I will never go to a live fire range without ear pro. And I will never leave the wire in theater with it in. They can either [give me nonjudicial punishment] or inspect me before I leave the wire, just so I can take it out as soon as I depart.

Can deadly ‘Trust’ game be stopped?
Anyone stupid enough to kill themselves, or someone else, by doing illegal crap like this deserves to have their benefits yanked — including a military funeral.

It is so easy for everyone to sit in judgment, from “I have heard about the ‘game’” to “they are idiots.” Regardless of what you have heard or seen or read, it is real, it is dangerous, and it will not end. It will be replaced or kept even more secret now. Accountability is a word that many involved have dodged. If you have heard of someone playing this game, report it. If it’s unfounded, then so be it. But if not, you could have saved two lives: the one standing at the end of the barrel and the one holding the gun

Coast Guard: No shots fired in D.C. exercise
The title of the article is misleading. It should read “CNN sets off alarm during Coast Guard training exercise.” Basing their reporting on scanner chatter instead of waiting for the facts, they ignited a panic that otherwise wouldn’t have existed. As far as conducting the exercise on 9/11, why not? Our enemies don’t take days off. Anyone in the military or a first responder knows that the best drills are unannounced and conducted at random intervals, just like the real thing.
