Diversity atop the ranks

Diversity is a great idea, and I’ve seen its positive impact during my service; making a Crayola box for the sake of being PC in upper echelons of the world’s most powerful Navy might not be in the best interest of the sailors under their charge.

Peralta to be given Navy Cross posthumously

I served/fought with Sgt. Rafael Peralta in 1st Platoon, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 3rd Marines. [Not giving Peralta the Medal of Honor] is an insult to Rafa’s family, the Corps and the five eyewitnesses. I also believe it is a complete failure on behalf of the honorable Defense Secretary Robert Gates to not have awarded Sgt. Peralta the Medal of Honor. I wonder how many other Medal of Honor recipients were wounded by either enemy or friendly fire precluding their heroic acts? It is laughable to think that Rafa’s heroic action on Nov. 15, 2004, has been lessened because Rafa may have initially gone down due to friendly fire prior to his heroic action that day. Does who shot whom have any bearing on this one simple fact: Sgt. Rafael Peralta smothered the blast of a hand grenade to save the lives of his friends, his fellow Marines? A hero nonetheless!
