INSURV PREP MEANS EXTENSIVE OUTSIDE HELP
The Navy has operated like this for years. Squadrons work ships up for months prior to inspections so that they will pass. Shouldn’t the Navy want to inspect their ships [based] on how they do business day to day?

NAVY ROLLING OUT NEW RECRUITING SLOGAN
Having worked at a [military entrance processing station] as a classifier, it’s important that Navy commercials actually sell the Navy, not career fields within the Navy. That said, the best Navy recruiting campaign ever — and the one that was probably the shortest-lived — was “Let the journey begin.” Those commercials actually epitomized everything that the Navy was about.

Say what you want about the slogan; the new commercial isn’t half-bad. Now if we can just get the Navy to move away from commercials showing spy radar zooming in on a fly on a guy’s shoulder, and we’ll be good to go.

REPORT OUTLINES SECURITY UNIT HAZING, ASSAULT
Does anyone believe in a fair trial? Isn’t that what we are protecting and believe in? We all know that you can’t trust everything you read. Let’s just take a deep breath and see how it plays out. It doesn’t matter if you think the punishment was up to your standards; it is up to the investigating officers.

SECNAV, CNO: WOMEN SHOULD SERVE ON SUBS
I have been in the Navy for seven years now and four of those were on a submarine. I am a missile technician. We have laid on top of each other to crawl inside the missile tube. Put a woman in that position and imagine a man and a woman laying on each other after 80 days out to sea. That is what I see when I think about this integration project. There will be sex, sexual harassment and sexual assault. How many women do you know who can carry a submersible pump from the forward compartment to the engine room? I have a hard time carrying one and I know that I am stronger than the average woman.
