ESPN salutes veterans

Staff report

ESPN is going to West Point.

The cable sports network will pay tribute to military veterans from Nov. 4 to 11, airing a special edition of “SportsCenter” on Veterans Day from the campus of the U.S. Military Academy.

Its weeklong tribute, “America’s Heroes: A Salute to Our Veterans,” will feature several special tapings, including an episode of “Friday Night Fights” from Marine Corps Air Station New River, N.C., on Nov. 4. “College GameDay” will be broadcast from the Air Force Academy on Nov. 7, and a special edition of “Sunday NFL Countdown” on Nov. 8 will feature the first television interview with Marie Tillman, widow of former NFL player Pat Tillman.

Other highlights include a taping of “Outside the Lines” from Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D.C., on Nov. 8, and “Mike and Mike in the Morning” will be the first show to broadcast from the amphibious transport dock New York on Nov. 10.

And a Veterans Day edition of “SportsCenter” taped from West Point will feature NFL coaching legend and former Army assistant coach Bill Parcells; former Army basketball coach Bobby Knight; and Duke head basketball coach Mike Krzyzewski, a former player and head coach at Army.
