Game squad reviews
Posted : Monday Dec 1, 2008 17:30:18 EST
We’ve enlisted readers to join our elite video game review unit. The only job requirement: Tell us what game is currently keeping you holed up in your man cave. To join the team, e-mail game reviewer Philip Ewing at fireteam@atpco.com and tell him why we should pick you, too.
Tech. Sgt. Charles Slone, Air Force
Kadena Air Base, Japan
What I’m playing:
“Rock Band 2”
The second installment of what will be a long-running series has added multiple features to attract every type of gamer. While the game stayed true to its predecessor with graphics and game play, they have added a ton of features and a wider variety of music to attract everyone from your kids to your grandfather. ... I would recommend this game to anyone who enjoys music.
Cryptologic Technician (Networks) 3rd Class Joseph Newburg, Navy
Naval Information Operations Command Pensacola, Fla.
What I’m playing:
“Warhammer Online: Age of Reckoning”
I’ve spent the last two weeks spending most of my free time with this game and I keep finding new things to love about it. Its basic game-play mechanics are similar to other [massive multiplayer online] games, and it clearly takes plenty of lessons from “World of Warcraft.”
2nd Lt. C.J. Fontillas, Air Force
McGuire Air Force Base, N.J.
What I’m playing:
“Civilization Revolution”
Sid Meier’s Civilization Revolution [is] his first foray into the console-strategy gaming world. Meier so anticipated bringing this game to the console world that he developed it from the ground up. “Civilization Revolution” brings his brand of gaming to two-thumbed armchair strategists who desire world conquest — without the headache of the micromanagement from the PC version. Veterans of the series may think of the game as “Civilization Lite,” but the core elements of resource management, diplomacy, exploration and more manifest themselves in this streamlined adaptation of its predecessor.
