Welcoming the newest members of the mess

For 4,171 petty officers first class, the wait is over: The Navy released the fiscal 2008 active-duty chief petty officer selection list Wednesday.

For this year’s crop of chief-selects, the overall chance to pin on anchors was 21.49 percent — down from 24 percent last year. Both the active E-8 and E-9 boards saw an increase in opportunity, as did the spring petty officer advancement cycle.
