2,956 tapped for O-3

There’s good news for nearly 3,000 active-duty lieutenants junior grade: They just got approved for promotion to O-3.
The fiscal 2008 active-duty Navy all-fully-qualified-officers list was approved by Defense Secretary Robert Gates, according to an AlNav message released Thursday; Senate confirmation is not required for promotion to lieutenant.
The list includes 2,956 line and staff officers.
