Navy to fly to demonstrate landing field noise

CAMDEN, N.C. — The Navy says it will fly its F/A-18 Super Hornet jets over Camden County during the next 12 months to show residents what type of noise they would face if a practice landing field was built in the county.
The Daily Advance of Elizabeth City reported Tuesday that the Navy told residents about the demonstration flights during a public meeting. Military officials are studying sites in Camden and nearby Gates counties and three sites in Virginia for the field.
Residents of the county in northeastern North Carolina have said they oppose the landing field because it would ruin their rural lifestyle and farming.
