Midshipman who died Monday identified
Posted : Friday May 9, 2008 5:38:58 EDT
A Naval Academy student who died after roommates found her unresponsive in her dormitory bed Monday morning has been identified.
Midshipman 4th Class Kristen Dickmann was pronounced dead at an Annapolis, Md., hospital Monday afternoon. The cause of and circumstances surrounding her death are under investigation, but a Naval Academy spokeswoman said there were no indications of foul play.
Dickmann, 19, graduated from Unionville High School in Kennett Square, Pa., last year. She was a freshman physics major and member of the Naval Academy women’s varsity volleyball team. She hoped to fly C-2 Greyhounds after she graduated.
“Kristen was unique and brilliant with a terrific sense of humor,” said her class officer, Lt. Misty Odom. “She would often say ‘math equals life’ and she would do differential equations just for fun. She was always positive and optimistic and sacrificed her personal time to help others.”
Dickmann is survived by parents Douglas and Carrie, older siblings Kyle and Cassie, and her extended family.
