2 Blue Angels found guilty, await punishment
Posted : Monday Nov 10, 2008 17:55:59 EST
NORFOLK, Va. — The two recently suspended members of the Blue Angels — one of them a pilot — were found guilty of unspecified charges at admiral’s mast Thursday.
Neither the names of the officers nor the charges each faced were released. One of them is a Navy officer and the other is a Marine. On Oct. 26, the commanding officer of the Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, Capt. Kevin Mannix, removed the two officers from their duties with the squadron due to an alleged “inappropriate relationship.”
Lt. j.g. Brett Dawson, spokesman for the chief of Naval Air Training, said the two officers, a man and a woman, were found guilty but would not divulge the punishment meted out by Rear Adm. Mark Guadagnini.
“They are still relieved of their duties and will stay that way,” Dawson said. “[Whether they are] detached from the Blue Angels is yet to be determined by the Navy Personnel Command.”
The performance season ends Nov. 15 after shows at Kennedy Space Center and Pensacola, Fla.
