Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced assignments for these captains who have been selected for promotion to rear admiral (lower half):
• Kurt L. Kunkel will be assigned as chief of staff, Defense Logistics Agency, Fort Belvoir, Va. Kunkel is now deputy director for joint logistics, J4, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
• Kevin R. Slates will be assigned as commander, Naval Facilities Engineering Command Atlantic, Norfolk, Va. Slates is now chief of staff, Naval Facilities Engineering Command, Washington, D.C.
• Jonathan A. Yuen will be assigned as deputy chief of staff for logistics, fleet supply, and ordnance, N4, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Yuen is now deputy commander/chief of staff Joint Contracting Command Iraq/Afghanistan.
