Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Gary Roughead announced assignments for these captains selected for promotion to rear admiral.

• Paul Becker will be assigned as deputy director for intelligence, CJ2, U.S. Forces Afghanistan, Kabul, Afghanistan. Becker last served as commanding officer, Joint Intelligence Center, U.S. Central Command, MacDill Air Force Base, Fla.

• Richard Berkey will be assigned as fleet maintenance officer, U.S. Pacific Fleet, Pearl Harbor, Hawaii. Berkey last served as commanding officer, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Portsmouth, Va.

• Richard Breckenridge will be assigned as deputy director, Submarine Warfare Division, N87, Office of the Chief of Naval Operations, Washington, D.C. Breckenridge last served as chief of staff, force structure, resources and assessment, J8, Joint Staff, Washington, D.C.
