The Naval Inspector General says Big Navy is pinching pennies on maintenance and manning for barracks housing the youngest sailors.

How would you feel if the Navy cut back on room renovations, maintenance and new furniture? What’s your biggest concern when it comes to shore-based housing?

According to the new IG report: “In FY-10, it will be difficult for the regions to manage and operate bachelor housing, and almost impossible to meet ‘world-class’ expectations.”

The cutbacks have begun, and may accelerate during the next few years, the IG says.
