MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Two men accused of stealing thousands of cases of Red Bull energy drink from a West Tennessee U.S. Navy installation have pleaded guilty to theft.
William Henry Bartlett and Bobby O'Neal Armstead face up to five years in prison when they are sentenced in November by U.S. District Court Judge S. Thomas Anderson.
The Commercial Appeal reported Bartlett and Anderson pleaded guilty on Monday to charges of conspiring to steal more than a quarter-million dollars worth of the beverage from the Millington naval base commissary.
Court documents show Bartlett worked at the commissary and told authorities he moved pallets of Red Bull to a cargo door where Armstead trucked them away and resold them.
A federal prosecutor has asked the court to require the men to repay more that $250,000.
